Gardening can be a part of the interior decor but it must blend with the furniture and set of the house. It can be done in any corner of the house or may be at the centre in a spacious drawing room. Wherever situated the green feeling itself would make the house aesthetically beautiful and attractive. Indoor gardening reflects the aura of the family and if properly done can be a source of relaxation for the members. Sitting by the indoor garden one can spend lot of time either reading or having tea. A carefully kept careless shrub can be a source of great joy at the end of the day.
To do indoor gardening is a brilliant idea but it has to be well maintained and adequately designed. There are many things that have to be kept in mind. The most important part of indoor gardening is selecting the location of the garden. If the room is not very spacious then it can be done on a raised platform near a window or may be in the balcony. But if the room is spacious there are several ways of arranging an indoor garden. The next thing that one has to study carefully is lighting. The plants should get proper light for it to grow. The availability of light would determine the choice of the plant. There is no point in planting something which requires more light in a low lighted house. In such cases artificial lighting can be a good solution.
Many people also keep the plants outside during the daytime to promote proper growth.
At indoors watering the plant is as significant as making a proper arrangement for the water to drain out, else it might mess up the room. The gardener must have complete knowledge of how much water the plant requires. Overdose of water might kill the plant. Temperature is a factor that has to be controlled if there is fluctuation in the weather conditions.
Humidifier can be used to control the humidity. If the conditions are quite humid then the leaves would become dry. This happens especially during winters. For any type of gardening indoor or outdoor, fertilizer have to be added at regular intervals. But then again for indoor plants it must not be added too often, otherwise the leaves would rot. The pots can be beautifully decorated to give the house a more sophisticated look. These pots must go well with the furniture of the room. Neutral colours are always more appealing then too bright ones.
The more creative the gardener is the more beautiful the garden would look. One can read books, take help of professionals or expert designers or browse internet for innovative ideas on indoor gardening. Indoor garden is fun and a great thing to decor the home but one must be able to maintain it. The plants must be looked after carefully. So the members of the family must share the responsibilities. The garden would only flourish if the time spent in caring for the plants is straight from the heart!
