Rose is one of the most popular and best-loved flowers in the world, known for both its elegant beauty and rich fragrance. It is available in various colours like red, pink, white, yellow and each one sets a different mood. Perhaps you're considering to grow them yourself, so you can stop buying them on the internet as a gift to people. Growing rose is not a very difficult task at all. All one needs is little bit of hard work clubbed with a beautiful dream of having a rose garden! Some necessary precautions have to be taken to have a blooming garden
It can easily be grown in any kind of garden where there is enough sunlight for at least five to six hours, some little shade in the afternoon and the soil is well-drained. A new rose plant can be grown from cuttings, seeds and bare-roots, depending on the type of rose one is looking for. Most beautiful varieties of roses like Tea, Hybrid Tea, Hybrid Perpetual, Floribunda, Grandiflora and Hybrid China can be easily grown in a garden from bare-roots. For this all that one has to do is clean the roots and hydrate them before planting, preferably during spring. There must be at least two to three feet gap between two planting holes. Care must be taken to make the soil well fertile and pest-free by adding composts, dried-manure and pesticides.
Once the roots are planted they must be watered twice daily to keep the soil moist and well-drained. Fertilizers should be added to the soil at regular intervals for a healthy growth. The new stem should start appearing in less than two weeks and once the tiny green stem appears, it should be covered with a little brown paper bag in the noon, to avoid excess light. In just two months time if there is adequate moisture, sunlight and organic manure (once in a week) a healthy rose plant is expected to grow. When the buds start appearing the plants should be watered thrice daily, but not in excess as it may cause the roots to rot. As the first cycle of rose starts blooming, it will attract bees and butterflies with vibrant colours and intoxicating perfume which is good for germination and pollination. Some rose plants do need support when laden with flowers and two-three canes can be used per plant to keep them upright.
But other species may not require any aid and grow on its own. But it is advisable to grow your plant near a fence or wall in the garden. Rose shrubs have a tendency to grow into thick bushes during the monsoon, so they must be pruned every two weeks. Rotten leaves, dead and damaged branches should immediately be removed. Winter is however the most yielding season for roses in tropical countries and spring for cold countries. With just little care and attention one can grow a wide range of beautiful and sweet-smelling roses.
It is not only romantic but the smell of bright roses early in the morning gives a new zest to life. While kids can play around the rose garden, adults too can enjoy a nice tea time.
